"Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hand. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalm 127:3-5

My Dream

My Dream

I actually had this dream a few years ago, but am just now getting around to writing it down. I decided to finally write it down after it has kept coming to mind many times over the years.

We were on a small hill in the middle of a valley. In the distance on all sides of us were small mountains. We were waiting quietly in anticipation of a great battle and the mountains were full of enemies that we could not see. On our hill, some young girls in long flowing white gowns started dancing a beautiful dance. I became very frightened and told them to sit still and stay out of sight so the enemy didn’t see us. Someone came to me and responsed, “Don’t be afraid. We have already been given the victory. Now all we have to do is fight the battle.”

How powerful a statement that is, and one that I have been reminded of over and over again in the years since that dream. Imagine going into battle with the confident assurance that you have already won. There would be no need for fear or worry over the outcome. We could be totally confident as we fight the battle. There would be no doubt. You have already won. The battle is just a demonstration of that victory. Think of how differently you could go into that battle knowing that you have already dominated, you have already defeated the enemy and that outcome will not change.

How many times have I fretted, worried, and feared over something that, through Christ, I have already won. All I have to do is fight the battle. And since I have already being given victory through Christ Jesus, the battle is nothing to fear. How many times have I struggled again and again with sin or doubt, discouragement, fear, and worry. The victory is mine. It has already been conquered. The battle is won. Therefore, I can fight with confident assurance that the sin, doubt, fear, worry, etc. MUST GO! It has already been defeated through Jesus. Victory is mine.

It's All About the Small Stuff

I was changing my 9 month old yesterday and he started screaming his lungs out in protest. He has been extremely clingy lately so the idea of me putting him down and then running a cold wet wipey over his delicate little parts was not something he was thrilled with. Changing him was necessary and, even if he didn't agree, it was what was the best thing for him at the time. As he screamed loud enough to wake the neighborhood, God reminded me of how often we are like my little man- Screaming in protest when things don't go our way, when He knows all along it is the best thing for us in the end. God teaches me many little lessons through my children. It is all about the small stuff.
